Petition sent out for BusySignal
Members of Busy Signal’s team have launched a petition aimed for President Obama. The petition asks that persons lend their voices to intercede on Busy Signal’s behalf to exonerate him from his crimes.
In 2002, Glendale Gordon, aka Busy Signal, was arrested in the United States of America. Busy fled America and returned to his childhood home of Jamaica to escape the charges.
In a release to THE WEEKEND STAR , Gordon’s team stated that these crimes must be atoned for.
“It is undisputed that crimes committed must be atoned for, and we have a civic responsibility to ensure that individuals who have done wrong be made to pay. However, is there any individual who in retrospect has not had feelings of shame and remorse for things done in the past? For every person there have been moments where, if given the opportunity to re-enact those scenes in our lives, we would make alternate choices. Unfortunately, life does not come with a replay button, and we haveall learnt to learn from our mistakes and move on”, the petition reads.
The petition also highlights Busy Signal’sachievements and contribution to the music industry since debuting on the scene in 2004. It further states that BusySignal’s growth as an artiste and a human being must be commended.

“We have seen the works of this artiste show significant strides of intellectual growth, cultural awareness and personal development. Transitioning from tracks such as Step Out very early in his career to popular covers such as One More Night and Night Shift , Busy Signal’s growth as an artiste must be commended, with the consistent improvement of his craft culminating in the release of his all-reggae album in May 2012″, it said.
According to Shane Brown, Busy Signal’smanager, it was important to put out this petition because Busy Signal has turned his life around.
“Whatever he was accused of, he has turned his life around. He has placed himself in a very important place in Jamaican history. He has rehabilitated himself, and he deserves a second chance, so we’re just asking for everyone’s support,” Brown told THE WEEKEND STAR .
The petition went on to say that an objective of punishment should be to rehabilitate and reform the individual.
“It is our belief that Busy Signal has personally achieved that which the judicial system has intended for each individual it has passed down a guilty verdict to. This case has touched a different chord in each and every Jamaican, because Busy Signal has managed against all odds to achieve what the judicial system seeks to do in each person that has been faced with incarceration.”

Incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel has officially disbanded the Portmore Empire but has promised his fans a slate of new acts. A statement was issued a few minutes ago that reads:
Adidjahiem Records would like to announce that the outfit known as the Portmore Empireis being disbanded, with the following statement from Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer:
Dancehall fans worldwide, it with great regret that I, Adidja Palmer have decided to disband the Portmore Empire. These artistes have been under the Adidjahiem leadership for years, where they have honed their craft and made their mark, and as such, are well on their way to becoming major forces in Dancehall. They have reached a level where they are more capable to take on their careers by themselves, and it would be unfairto them, based on the limited resources of Adidjahiem Records, and current legal woes of the Adidjahiem C.E.O. and team members.
I wish them the best and I am confident that they will live up to my expectations. In the future, Adidjahiem will continue to bring out new acts and groom them for stardom.
